The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists.
Hi, my name is Carima and I am an Integrative Counsellor, specializing in providing therapeutic support to children and young people, from 4 - 17 years of age. I offer both in person as well as online sessions, depending on suitability.
Counselling helps children and young people explore any concerns that may be causing problems in their social, emotional or cognitive development. The therapeutic process provides them with the opportunity to express difficult or confused feelings in a safe environment with clear boundaries.
I believe that all children and young people deserve a safe, confidential space to be reflective, listened to and supported. I also believe it is important to acknowledge that every child is unique and should therefore, be empowered to choose a therapeutic approach to healing that feels comfortable for them.
I work predominantly in a non-directive way, drawing from a variety of different therapeutic models and approaches when working with my clients.
Play is a natural medium of communication for children and the use of play and creative techniques facilitates the free expression of feelings, assisting children in building resilience and improving their self-esteem.
Art-based approaches are beneficial for both children/young people to process complex feelings and thoughts, by giving expression, movement, shape and colour to life experiences in a way that often words alone can't do.
If you have any questions or would like to organise a time to discuss how I may be of assistance to your child, please do get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you.
